The book opens with the question ‘what is food for?’. It contains clear and bright illustrations, and the flips- flaps (which children will love) show why we need to eat. The journey your food takes is briefly explained and what food we should eat and why. The ‘what shouldn’t you eat and why’ section has brilliant germ illustrations which are enough to make any child wash their hands, and eat fruit and vegetables. ‘Tasting food and how you chew’ and ‘where your food goes’ come next, with a great explanation of the role of teeth. The rest of the book covers the inside of the body starting with the stomach, where it is, what it does and how big it is. The ‘intestine and how it works’ section is a bit more of a science lesson, and the ‘journeys end’ on the final page of the book is simply but clearly illustrated, explaining what happens when you go to the toilet.
