“When my right arm fell off, I knew what to do, I stuck it back on , with vegetable glue”. This quirky picture book has a strong sense of the absurd! The girl in the story has a very unusual body which keeps falling to bits. Luckily she keeps an enormous pot of ‘vegetable glue’ handy for sticking herself back together. The girl explains that vegetable glue is found in your tummy and is made when you eat up your greens. The girl avoids vegetables and only eats cake, which means she has no vegetable glue goodness inside her. While the other children play she can’t sneeze or cough for fear of losing another body part. Luckily, the girl’s super fit veggie-loving 104-year-old granny comes to the rescue with two large shopping bags of vegetables for the girl to munch on.

Worth noting: Despite the rather gruesome and strange sounding synopsis of this book, the illustrations are very beautiful and the book is a visual feast. The tumbling body parts look perfectly natural in this context and shouldn't alarm children!
