One of a popular series of books featuring boy and girl twins Topsy and Tim. Topsy and Tim the twins find out that their friend Tony’s mum is expecting a baby very soon. The children put their hand on her tummy and feel the baby kicking. Tony, Topsy and Tim go into the new baby’s bedroom, and Tony explains that he is going to let the baby sleep in his old cot. The twins have brought some of their old baby clothes round and they help to tidy them away. One morning at school, Tony announces that his new baby brother Jack has arrived, and that he is going to visit him later that day. When the baby comes home, Tony explains that he cries a lot and is very little. Eventually Topsy and Tim get to meet Jack, and Tony’s mum lets them hold him carefully. She explains to the children that babies cry because they don’t know how to talk, so they cry when they need something. She breastfeeds her baby while the children have a drink from the fridge. Topsy and Tim watch the baby having his nappy changed. At first, Tony is not interested in helping his mum bath the baby, and looks a little jealous and sad. But he cheers up when Jack stops crying and laughs at him and his mum tells him its because he likes his big brother. Topsy and Tim tell their mum how lucky Jack is to have a baby brother, and mum tells them that Jack is lucky to have a big brother like Tony.
