Rabbit loves carrots. So much so, in fact, that he develops a bit of a hoarding habit and soon he can’t move in his burrow for carrots. So he decides that he must find a new home. His friends Tortoise, Bird, Squirrel and Beaver generously offer to share their abodes, but the sheer weight of carrots that rabbit insists on bringing with him makes co-habiting impossible – in fact all his friend’s homes end up broken and uninhabitable.
Rabbit is suddenly aware of the trouble he has caused for his friends, who are now cold, tired and homeless. He realises that it’s time to let the carrots go! He makes amends and welcomes everyone into his burrow, sharing a carroty feast with his friends (‘after all, carrots weren’t for collecting – they were for SHARING’).
