This book is written simply, with only a few words on each page, relying heavily on the illustrations to build up the character of Susan, a little girl who does all the normal childhood things. Susan laughs, sings, cries, paints, grins….and it only becomes apparent on the final page of the book that Susan is in a wheelchair. The book concludes with the words,’That is Susan through and through – just like me, just like you’.
