“In 2020 an awful virus crept across our planet”.
Quite a sinister opening to this little picture book by Dan and Kathryn Allman, which might alarm a nervous child a little. However, the tone of the story is pretty positive, and concludes with a strong message of hope: you’re not alone, and this will come to an end. Some aspects of the story no longer apply (it mentions how we clapped for the doctors and nurses every week). A good book to explain to children the reasons why it’s so important to wash your hands and keep your distance (to protect the vulnerable, make it easier for the health services, and to stop the spread of the disease).
