The Little Princess doesn’t want to go to bed, and doesn’t see why she should have to when she’s not tired. She makes various excuses to get up: for water, because she’s scared of monsters, because she’s seen a spider. Later, her parents discover she’s not in bed. She’s eventually found asleep in the cat’s basket. The next morning she wakes up feeling tired after her late night, and takes herself off to bed.
