Kate asks her mum and dad if they can get a puppy. They visit a rescue centre and pick Dave the puppy from a huge variety of potential pets. An old dog called Rosy also catches their eye and melts their hearts, but the family decides they can only take one. Nobody gets much sleep on the first night with Dave the dog – he cries in his cardboard box, and the family can’t stop thinking about Rosie. They return to the dog’s home to collect her. She settles in to the household very well and befriends Dave the puppy, and Kate loves the dogs sleeping on her bed at night.
