Separation can be hard for children, and in this original story, young Tom is devoted to his wonderful pet bull, Alfred. When he starts school, Tom starts searching for a strategy to help Alfred whilst he is absent, and in the end, finds a way to keep everyone happy!
Tom and his bull Alfred are the best of friends. They are inseparable. Until, that is, Tom starts school, at which point, Tom asks his parents for a new pet – one that is cute, snuggly and totally adorable.
Alfred is put out, and finds himself looking up “adorable pets” on the internet. He thinks hamsters in swings and puppies in teacups are ridiculous. But he tries to help Tom out by becoming more adorable himself, only to be ridiculed by the other animals. This makes Alfred sad.
At the end of the book, Tom approaches Alfred with a surprise – a kitten! It’s a friend for Alfred whilst Tom is at school, and that is what Tom has been searching for all along! Alfred the bull and the adorable kitten are inseparable, and keep each other company until Tom returns home -when they can all be adorable together!
