Tim’s dad lives in another town and doesn’t see him very often. When Tim comes to visit his dad for a special day together he proudly tells everyone they meet that he’s with his dad. They visit the cinema, go for a pizza, and sit together in the library reading. When it is time for Tim to catch his train home, Dad announces to the whole carriage that Tim is the best son any father could have. Tim waves goodbye as his Dad’s train leaves the station. Although the train has gone, the tracks are still there which will bring another train back with Dad soon.

Things we liked:
Simply and beautifully written, the love between father and son comes across very clearly. The narrative doesn't brush over the pain of the separation between the two of them, but the ending is positive as Tim realises he will see his father again soon.
